my name is Guilherme Brizzi, and i study computer science at the federal university of santa maria (ufsm). right now, i'm at my 5th semester.
currently, i do neural networks research and my goal is to develop projects related to computational linguistics. beyond that, i'm a competitive programmer. i've also worked as a teaching assistant for the logic and algorithms class.
my main interests are programming, artificial intelligence, urban planning, linguistics and politics. such things influence, in different levels, the projects i develop.
since i was little, i've always liked math, technology and messing around with things. lego, club penguin hacks, youtube channels - you name it.
i had my first contact with "programming" at 10, when i learned how to play with scratch in a school project.
in high school, i was indecisive with which career i would persue - i knew it would be something in stem, but i wasn't sure what.
in the end, i decided, still in 10th grade, that i would follow the path of computer science, starting then my first formal contact with programming.
in 2022, i took the enem (brazil's national high school exam) and got one of the 100 highest grades in the country. given that, in 2023, i was accepted in computer science at ufsm, getting 1st place in the ranking.
in this trajectory, i have developed many projects, met incredible people and partaken in many groups - as it'll be seen in the following sections. :)
i am proficient, in descending order of familiarity, in the following languages: python, c, javascript, c++, kotlin, java.
i have knowledge of various libraries in these languages for data science, web scraping, bot creation, app development, and artificial intelligence training.
furthermore, i am fluent in english and spanish, in addition to being a native speaker of portuguese - and i know the basics of german and french.
at university, by the end of the 4th semester, i have a general average of 9.74 (out of 10).
i've worked on some interesting little projects. check 'em out below. :D
prefeitômetro is a quiz project i created for the 2024 elections in santa maria, brazil.
with 15 questions about municipal politics, prefeitômetro tells you which candidate aligns most with your views.
during the 2024 elections, this project was used by thousands of voters to learn about the political landscape. it was featured in several media outlets, including the city's largest newspaper, the diário.
additionally, prefeitômetro was presented at the jornada acadêmica integrada - a.k.a. jai. the abstract is available here.
trakka map is a 'fog of war'-style map app.
inspired by video game maps, the app tracks your location in real time and shows which areas of the world you've unlocked.
the app is available for android, programmed in kotlin, and uses the osmdroid (openstreetmap) library to handle maps.
trakka was developed by me, based on an idea by gabriel stiegemeier.
